Corporate Social Development

Rural has adopted a structured social responsibility programme, reaching out to both it’s employees and the communities wherein it operates. Its programmes can be summarised as follows:

Rural’s Employees

  • Each and every employee is a member of a private medical aid.
  • Each and every employee is an active member of the Group’s retirement fund with a contribution of 15% of salary.
  • In the unfortunate event of an employee dying, loved ones as nominated by the employee, will receive shortly after death, benefits equal to two years worth of salary.
  • New employees are appointed from the areas where Rural conducts its business. By 1998, Rural employed around 300 staff members, of which 75% originated in such rural communities, who received training prior to them being used to provide any kind of technical services in the field. These employment opportunities are invaluable to the jobless rural – affording them the opportunity of sustainable better life.
  • Rural’s Charity Work

  • Rural has actively been supporting Boy’s Town since November 2003, where current monthly contributions make it possible for 2 boys to be afforded the opportunity of education and a safe environment.
  • Rural has adopted the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Nylstroom, providing classroom necessities as required. In addition, each of the 150 Group employees have adopted a child and provides these children with a Christmas present.
